The Shyne Foundation's
Mini Rainforest Enclosure
Bob and Liz Johnson
South Florida

The Shyne Foundation provided much of the original inspiration for this website and the NaturalBird List.

The Shyne Foundation is a non-profit parrot sanctuary for over 150 parrots. Bob and Liz Johnson have created a ¼ acre enclosed mini rainforest so that the parrots live as closely as possible to the way nature intended them to live.

"Someday, in a more enlightened age, the practice of confining any bird to a life limited to the synthetic environment of a cage will be viewed as morally and ethically unthinkable..."

"The changes I have seen, and the benefits to the birds, are so great…

"In a very short time, many of my birds went from looking pretty ratty with numerous stress bars, to gorgeous, healthy, smiling birds, without any stress bars."
