The Shyne Foundation provided much of the original inspiration
for this website and the NaturalBird
List.
The Shyne Foundation is a non-profit parrot sanctuary for over
150 parrots. Bob and Liz Johnson have created a ¼ acre enclosed
mini rainforest so that the parrots live as closely as possible
to the way nature intended them to live.
"Someday, in a more enlightened age, the practice of confining
any bird to a life limited to the synthetic environment of a cage
will be viewed as morally and ethically unthinkable..."

"The changes I have seen, and the benefits
to the birds, are so great…
"In a very short time, many of my birds went
from looking pretty ratty with numerous stress bars, to gorgeous,
healthy, smiling birds, without any stress bars."
